Fallacy Project
Fallacy Project: The fallacy project will be a research project aimed at developing a thorough definition and explanation of a particular fallacy. The project will be web based and incorporate research and examples from current media to help the audience understand the fallacy, how to recognize it, and how to avoid it.
Group Fallacy Skit (50 Points)
The fallacy project is in two parts: Written and Performance
Written: Create an educational flyer about the chosen fallacy.
Performance: Develop a script with examples of the fallacy. Perform the script and make sure we understand the fallacious argument.

We read the foodstamp fraud case study for today. Let’s see if we can figure out why the authors call BS and what fallacies Fox “News” are using.
Emotional Fallacies (Pathos)
Scare Tactics – Scaring people and exaggerating dangers. Also known as fear mongering.
Either-or Choices / False Dichotomy – Oversimplification to only two choices.
Slippery Slope – Exaggerating the consequences of an action.
Sentimental Appeals – Excessive emotion intended to distract.
Bandwagon Appeals – Follow the path of everyone else.
