https://www.gopurepod.com/news-research/the-primary-dangers-of-plastic-bottled-water/
I am researching the dangers of plastic, and how people can better the environment in reducing their use of plastic. This website I found describes the dangers of drinking water out of plastic water bottles, and how not only the environment can be damaged, our health can be damaged. According to this source, there is nothing special about bottled water. Bottled water is less regulated than tap water, and contains thousands of contaminants. There are many toxins from the plastic, and this can be detrimental to our health over time. And though people have known of the dangers of plastic water bottles, the use of these has only increased over time. 50 billion plastic water bottles are used per year, and 90% of them are not recycled. Over a million marine animals are killed every year because of the plastic in our environment.
I believe that in order to protect our environment and our health, we have this simple solution. We can stop using these plastic bottles that really provide no benefit to us, and instead buy a refillable bottle that we can use without being in danger of damaging our health. In this way, one person at a time, we can help protect our environment from the dangers of plastic.

This article is an educational piece on how addicting, available, and dangerous vaping is. Vaping is easily concealable. Most vaping devices are small and look like pens. The e-juice is what is getting inhaled and contains nicotine mixed with other chemicals. The smoke occurs from the e- juice evaporating on a heated battery-operated coil. Kids or anyone underage can easily obtain the e-juice from online websites. Patients are being diagnosed with severe lung disease caused from vaping, which is leading to severe illness or in some cases death.
I chose this article because I wanted to write my proposal on vaping. My goal is to have a career in Respiratory Therapy. I’ll have to deal with patients suffering from this lung disease, so I’m interested in learning more about it. I want to understand the disease and how to treat it. I think this article covered all the general info related to vaping. It was a great place to start looking for the research that I need for the proposal. Before I read this article, I didn’t think about how easily accessible these e- cigarettes were for underaged people. This is another problem with vaping that I will have to take into consideration when composing my essay. The hard part will be trying to find a solution that will keep people from using these devices, or maybe just deter people from wanting to smoke them in the first place.

I am researching the teen vaping epidemic, and how bad it is for minors. The youth vaping epidemic: Addressing the rise of e-cigarettes in schools article talks about how after trump mentioned the ban of E-cigarettes it became very popular in america. I find it very interesting how reverse psychology always works on young kids and makes them do the wrong thing. The article also talks about multiple solutions to this problem and most of them i believe will work.
I think in order to stop this problem the best solution is to ban it where the problem is. if its banned there will be less places to get the E-cigarettes from and the number teens that suffer from addiction, lung diseases, and heart problems will decrease significantly. I also think they should bring more awareness to the schools where the problem of E-cigs are at and help push teens away from them.

this article is about experts who did research and identified that there is bad communication about sex-education. Researchers think parents should educate their children about sex; which will assist them when they start to be sexually active. Nevertheless, there are many teens and young adults who become victims of sexually transmitted infections (STIs) or sexual transmitted disease ( STDs). Most of the time, teens catch STIs or STDs because there is a lack of communication about sex education. Also, the article analysis the fact that there are many teen pregnancies occurring every year.
I selected this article because my proposal is about sex-education. The article corresponds with one of the topics that I will use in my body paragraphs because it demonstrates how there are a lot of problems happening with teens. Also, the articles reviews what can be a remedy to the problematic situation (STDs, STIs, and teen pregnancies). Another benefit, there are demonstrations as to why communication plays a big role to prevent rates of these problematic situations from rising.

In this article, it provides possible plans and solutions to the problem of the United States of America’s system of healthcare. It shows and presents how the the system of healthcare is more like a business and yes, it definitely gives quality patient care, but it also is 18%, and rising, of the income in America. It also indicates that families that come from a low income background simply do not want to go to the hospital to get care. This is because they already are aware of the estimated tremendous medical costs associated with the needed care that the hospital will provide. This doesn’t help the fact that statistics show that low income families aren’t usually in a good environment. Statistics also show that those with a background of a low income family also have less years in education. It’s as if we’re setting the majority of the population of America for failure and fear. All for the rich to get richer and it isn’t fair at all. So the article provides a solution to all this. It gives us solutions such as having the federal government change the overall structure of the current federal healthcare programs. All in all, it really is completely up to the federal government to change the healthcare costs for huge hospitals.
In general, my response to this article is sadness but the drive to go on and change the healthcare system. Knowing it is getting worse for our future generations and our present generation just makes me want to change it even more and more. This is quite a dream though, as I can probably predict that it’s just a few thousand people’s desire to change it vs. the whole federal government. However, history has proven that the smallest things count. It may take a few decades to make a small dent, but at least it’s for the better of all things. In terms of healthcare quality around the world, the US isn’t even at the top, whereas some countries are and they have free healthcare.

My article will be talking about the number of homeless people in America. It is clear that there are more homelessness in some parts of the states than others this may be due to overpopulation and not enough housing but not limited to mental illnesses or personal situations. According to the article there are more than 567,710 homeless throughout America. The largest state in America with homeless is California, with Los Angela’s with 50,000 alone.
I thought that reading this article was very interesting because I hear about a lot of homelessness in California, but it is rare when I do see them. I did not know that California has the highest amount of homelessness in the United States. Los Angeles being so close shows how personal the issue is to everyone. L.A. is known for being the richest part in California with tons of celebrities but that might just be where our problem is coming from. The over amount of population has driven housing prices through the roof and has kicked many families out of homes. Housing must go down in order to help from more families being kicked out.

Gun Control Summary/Response
URL: https://gun-control.procon.org/
Summary:
The majority of gun owners believe that there should be a regular background check before the point of sale for a weapon. According to procon.org, “97% of American voters support universal background checks.” Individuals who are for these background checks are not the issue, “40% of all gun sales are undocumented private party gun sales, that do not require a background check.” All of the weapons being purchased off the radar are in most cases the weapons used to commit these terrible attacks on society. Eighty-nine percent of Americans agreed that people who are diagnosed as mentally ill or impaired are not allowed to purchase or own any sort of weapon. Background checks and gun laws are implemented to keep everyone as safe as possible.
Response:
Unfortunately, there is no perfect solution to this gun control dilemma. I believe it is in the best interest to protect all of those who are a part of our country. I also feel that it is very crucial that a background check and mental illness exam is completed before anyone is allowed to own any gun. Making those who want to obtain a weapon also become more educated on the weapon they will be buying. If someone is not aware of how to maneuver and maintain this weapon, they should not be allowed to own it. The safer the better and these restrictions should be in place to protect each and everyone equally. Mentioned in the article, guns are boughten for protection and to keep those who own them safe in case of emergency.

In the article “Problems of Adolescence”, Sagari Gongala points out some of the main problems adolescents face. The first and most obvious change is a physical change. Physical changes can cause an adolescent to become self conscious of their “new” body which can lead to emotional issues such as eating disorders. Emotional issues definitely cause changes in behavior. Teens may start to act out by being rebellious and disrespectful to parents or other adults in authority. The rebellion might lead to drug and alcohol use, which can affect grades in school. The writer also discusses social problems. Depression is one of the most common psychological problems teens face. “In fact, one-third of adolescent deaths are suicides triggered by depression”, states Gongala. The writer goes on to add solutions to these problems such as parents talking to their children just before the physical changes start to occur, letting them know that the changes are part of growing up. Gongala says, “Gaining your child’s trust is important if you want to help him with behavioral issues. Talk to them and listen to what they have to say. Do not judge or criticize them, as it could worsen their behavior.”
As we are writing our first assignment, I’ve been looking at other articles that present a problem followed by a solution. This article got my attention because I have been researching adolescent behavior along with addiction. During adolescence, a teen goes through, not only physical changes, but also emotional and mental changes. They are discovering who they are and who they want to become. It is a roller coaster for them as they embark on this journey.

Article summary:
there is a rise in teen pregnancies and STDs. The articles claim a lot of the reason for the std rates are due to lack of communication. With the lack of communication, many of the young adults are more naive and gullible to catch an std or get pregnant. However, if parents or teachers would be more effective in sharing their knowledge about sex, there would be a drop in the rates of STDs and teen pregnancies. Nevertheless, the article gives advice about how not to react with your child about their knowledge or experience with sex.
Response:
I selected this article because it is relevant to the research for my topic proposal. There can be many remedies to lower the rates of STDs. Also, the article addresses what the problematic situation is, then reviews the solutions as well. In addition, there is advice about what you should stay informed about. In my perspective, we should have experts from the medical field actually teach about sex education. It’s rational to believe that this idea will be effective, with an expert sharing their knowledge, the person learning will learn much more with an expert that their parents. Also, sometimes homo-sexuals can’t always learn about how to have sex with their partner because their parent might not be informed about how a homosexual can have sex. as can be seen, the best way we can have communication with the young adults is by having an expert communicate about sex to them.

“Ocean Plastic solutions, A Global Tragedy for our Oceans and Sea Life”, is an article regarding information about plastic accumulating in our ocean and our beaches. The pollution is becoming a global crisis. As claimed by the source, at the current rate plastic is expected to weigh more than all the fish swimming in the sea by 2050. The article is explaining plastic is a problem, every year there are more and more found in our beaches. The article gives knowledge that there is a gyre of plastic in the north-central Pacific Ocean. In summary, the pollution of plastic takes a heavy toll on wildlife, such as fish, sea turtles, sea birds, and many different marine animals. The Center for Biological Diversity is acting towards this issue on different areas, such as petitioning E.P.A, asking the govt to regulate plastics as a pollutant and to treat plastic as a hazard.
Response:
I chose this article, because it is in my best interest to find a solution to this Ocean pollution epidemic. I believe the pollution of plastic is a big issue and takes a major key role in the reason why our oceans are so polluted. I am very passionate towards this issue; it is important to bring awareness to this issue because it affects everyone’s. Endangering and harming sea and wildlife will harm all of us. I feel a solution to this issue is to be mindful of utilizing plastic products, and regulating plastic, as well as maintaining and organizing ocean and river clean ups.

In this article, the author writes about the dangers in cannabis oil vaping and how a healthy 54 year old man ended up in the hospital with lung injury due to vaping cannabis oil. Most people believe marijuana to be safe since it’s been legalized almost everywhere. But questions rise when this man ends up in the hospital because of it. Vaping is thought to be safe but inhaling combustion products of marijuana can cause respiratory infection. When the man was released from the hospital and stopped his use of vaping, the results of his tests were healthier and showed signs of recovery. So doctors believed that to be the cause of his respiratory failure. Vaping has become popularized especially with cannabis since people have more legal access to it. Vaping was developed to reduce the effects of inhalation of tobacco and cannabis derivatives but in fact is more dangerous.
I chose this article because it relates to my proposal topic of vaping and the dangers of it. Personally I find vaping to be a bad habit and I would love to find a solution to eliminate this product from being sold. As a parent I would hate to see my child become addicted to something dangerous to her health. Many young kids are becoming addicted to these products and finding a solution to a longer healthier lifestyle would be a great thing.

Summary:
The article, “The Effects of Marriage and Divorce on Families and Children,”
discusses 3 different areas: knowledge of marriage, divorce, and single families.
Gordon goes on to state two parent families have a wide advantages compared to single- household families. Single-household families. He mentions even though children may come from a single-family house hold doesn’t mean the child or children won’t be successful .“ Encouraging and supporting healthy marriages is a cornerstone of the Bush Administration’s proposed policies for addressing the poverty-related woes of single-parent households and, importantly, for improving the well-being of low-income children.” Gordon addresses a common problem among single family household which is low income. He mentions children from first marriages ending in divorce, which result to single family incomes are majority of the time poor. The article discusses the differences in trend of having children out of marriage, waiting longer periods of time to be married, and both parents working in the job force have created concerns in rising statistics in the last 30 year women having kids out of marriage and divorce.
Response:
The article was insightful to the different trends and concerns in marriage. The article makes me want to think about the never ending conversation. Do successful marriages have a substantial effect on a child’s or children’s success in school, social behavior, and rates for healthier marriages?
I further want to look into research into this area for my paper. I believe not only do we need to pour into the next generation we need to provide role models as well. A different article I read by the heritage foundation spoke about how healthy marriages build strong communities. I would love for our communities to be filled with happy successful children thriving in school, in extra curricular activities, or demonstrating more empathy or to inspire the generation after them.

US News posted an article on January 21st that was titled “States With the Most Equitable School Funding”, and was written by Casey Leins. In the article the author discusses the statistics of public school funding throughout the country and how it has never went back to where it was before 2008’s Great Recession. The concept of fair school funding, which is whether or not their is enough funding to provide student with the necessary resources to meet their state’s requirements, graduate high school, & be prepared for a college education. School funding is calculated based on the 3 metrics of funding level, funding distribution and funding effort. The national average was $14,046 per pupil with many states going far higher or lower. Vermont was the highest at $27,588 per pupil and Arizona was the lowest at $5,477 per pupil. The article also discusses the breakdown of funding distributed by states in low income areas and has charts to show the wide range of funding nation wide.
I believe the argument that is being made is that education should be a primary focus nationwide and not something that should have limited funding. I picked this article because I thought it directly correlated to our conversation on education. It connects to our class because just as states like Texas have taken out critical thinking in the curriculum, other states have not prioritized education. They are similar as they both deal with states not giving their students the best opportunity to learn and have a positive impact society.

The article summarize these different type of PEDs but anabolic steroids is the highlighted concern in most cases when it comes to athletes using any type of PEDs, and what the drug is from this text is a drug that increases muscle mass and strength not only does it promote these things it helps the recovery process faster so you can workout more frequently without needing the proper rest for your muscles to recover and grow as this would appeal to athletes to gain an edge in order to workout more get bigger, faster, and stronger then there opposition. The risk for this drug are many men can develop shrunken testicles, prominent breast, and infertility to name a few. Women can also experience a deeper voice, increased body hair, and baldness these are just to name a few. Both men and women can experience depression, drug dependence, severe acne, hypertension, bad cholesterol, and cardiac problems the list is very wide and far as to how it can affect athletes or anyone in general who takes these drugs.
This article is very informative on the risks of the drugs that are out there and that athletes are taking in order to gain an advantage. the article also highlights not only steroids but also supplements that can have affect on people who take things like pre workout or creatine to generate muscle growth and endurance. I picked this article because I’ve played sports my whole life as well as loved watching my favorite athletes and we see athletes today feel pressured to take these drugs in a way to perform better and be as great as possible no matter the means, but its important for people to know the risks. I also picked this article as it will help with my proposal essay which will be about if PEDs should be allowed in sports and the pros and cons if they were allowed in professional sports

This article, made by a doctor in the US, Dr. Scheurer, presents 6 ways that could drastically improve the healthcare system in the United States of America. She is very confident in speaking her opinion, as she is also very involved in public health and has close ties with hospital administration. She starts off by inferring that the US healthcare system is a big business for the federal government. Yes, it cares for patients, but not in a very effective manner. Over 18% of US GPD is consumed by the costs of healthcare. Compared to other countries, that is a major and drastic difference. Not only that, but the US mostly focuses on present care and doesn’t usually look at the proper care that would sustain them for the longest time possible. Dr. Scheurer provides 6 ways that could help improve the system of healthcare that would lead to decreased costs, better patient care, and better longtime care for the patient.
Personally I feel more secure knowing that there are doctors that realize the state of the healthcare system and are aiming to change it. It may be extremely hard and it will take a very long while to realistically make a huge dent to the overall federal system, but any small difference is still a difference. It’s great that that Dr. Scheurer is aiming at hospital administration and healthcare teams to first make a difference. Realistically, there just isn’t enough administrative power from healthcare officials to make a huge impact, but I’m glad that actions are being taken to improve care and hopefully (in the long run), decreased costs of care, and have care for all.

In “Rethinking Education in America,” Gabrielle Levy interviews Arne Duncan on the failure of America’s educational system. Duncan asserts that the system is failing many students and it needs to be updated in order to keep up with other nations. America is being left behind. Many of the students in the country are no longer competing with just the country; they are competing with others in a global scale. He argues that political division in the country is what is holding the nation back in trying to improve the educational system. There aren’t that many politicians who are willing to challenge the status quo. In schools, teachers aren’t valued as professionals. They are underpaid and undertrained affecting the very students who are shaping up the nations future. Furthermore, Arne Duncan observes that politicians instead focus on gun control debates. School shoot-outs put the fear in kids, it prevents them from learning and it’s damaging them psychologically. So many students have been killed due to guns and the politicians in charge are not doing anything about it. He came to realize that “we value our guns more than we value our kids” (Duncan).
The politicians in charge need to be replaced, no change has been made to gun control. Instead, they have divided the nation. Moreover, shoot-outs are happening very frequently. We talk about them for a little bit and it is eventually forgotten until the next one. Not only are shoot-outs still happening, the school system has yet to be improved. Many students are losing interests in school because things that really matter aren’t being thought. A lot of college students don’t actually learn until they get to college as most of the things that were thought in high school are eventually forgotten. This article tie to our class discussion as we were discussing ways the school system could improve.

The article I chose to discuss was focused on the topic of Trophy hunting animals and its debate. The article goes on to explain the dangers of hunting and what it does for certain species potentially endangering them, but it also goes to explain the dangers or aftermath if hunting was banned completely and that trophy hunting is not the only issue at hand. Conflict usually involves poisoning, shooting or spearing lions, either to retaliate for (or try to prevent) attacks on livestock or people. Some traditional killing of lions also still occurs, where young men spear them to gain wealth and status.
Their approach is to not look at this debate with emotion but with science to understand the threats for each population. As said in the article, they believe we could be condemning far more of these magnificent animals to death… we should be extremely wary of basing decisions on emotion alone.
I chose to discuss the topic because I have always been against trophy hunting animals and still am against it, but was not made aware of the dangers or effects stopping hunting could bring or the moral of why some people do it. I was unaware of the potential consequences it could bring which intrigued me. The author of this article is trying to make the audience understand that hunting is not only used for wealth and money but have other important reasons and banning that can potentially harm the environment. I believe trophy hunting is wrong and endangering several species, however banning hunting completely could also have serious harm as well.

5 Key Questions about the climate change in the 2020’s
Summary / Response
https://www.cbsnews.com/news/climate-change-2020-questions-about-global-warming-impact/
In the article it covers 5 key questions:
1)Can we stop climate change and how will innovation help?
The good news is that the answer is yes! We do have a target goal of reaching emission reduction 45% by 2030. Concerning innovation, the article states that the fastest growing occupations in the next decade are going to be solar and wind technicians. The great news is that sustainable energies are already cheaper than fossil fuels.
2)Where could we see rapid change over the next decade?
– The Amazon, concerning the way that the land is being abused, it is currently at risk of becoming a Saharan desert
– Permafrost, I was not aware had been storing carbon for thousands of years, with this melting away, it is releasing carbon into the atmosphere.
– Loss of ice, again i was unaware that the ice caps were helping to keep the world cool. The ice melting is being monitored to determine how fast the sea level will rise.
All three of the key points directly show that without action the problem is compounding, and contributing to its own end.
3)What does this mean for the economy and homeowners?
The effect of global warming will have effects on the housing market due to flooding, and rising sea levels and Fire risk.
4)Can the younger generation turn their ambition into policy?
Yes, the article claims that the younger generation has done more in 1 year than what adults were able to do in 30.
5)What impacts are people most concerned about?
I am shocked to see that the main answer to this question was answered in the article with “Migration and Refugees”. With my current ignorance on this topic i could never imagine that global warming would cause mankind to need to move away from the equator, due to extreme heat, and farming land turning into deserts. The lands in these areas will become Uninhabitable.
Many people locally have the perception that Global Warming does not effect us here in the Inland Empire, and that Global Warming is only having an effect on Polar Ice Caps and Australia with fires. I personally grew up hearing the message of save the planet, Recycle, and cut 6 pack plastic can holder rings because 100,000 animals die every year. What animals were dying? The sea turtles, and ocean birds. The polar ice caps are far far away, and Australia fires are not here, so my fear is that others may feel that global warming is not real, and that there is no need to take action, and even if we did that our efforts locally would not make a difference anyways. After reading this and a few other articles in my research I am finding that I have been very wrong in my thinking, or better yet my ignorance concerning Global Warming, a real issue for all of us.

https://childmind.org/article/teen-vaping-what-you-need-to-know/
An article written by Katherine Martinelli called, “Teen Vaping: What You Need to Know”, discusses the dangers of vaping and how parents can help prevent it. Years ago, cigarettes were everywhere and being used by everyone including underage teenagers. Due to the potent smell of cigarettes, it wasn’t hard to tell which kids were smoking and which kids weren’t, but since then, vaping has become a new trend and has almost replaced cigarettes in teenagers. Martinelli explains that there were “2.1 million e-cigarette users in 2017”, which I am sure has sky rocketed since being that JUULing has become so favorable to teens. She also explains the reasons teens may justify their vaping habits such as: sweet or fruity flavors, “it’s not as bad as cigarettes”, and the “coolness” behind it. Little do they know just how bad it is for you. Vaping can have many lingering side effects whether one continues smoking or quits. To an under developed brain, vaping can cause growth to slow down and/or damage the prefrontal cortex leading to a lack of rational thinking and often causes reactions based on emotion. Martinelli also stated that although it may help someone to be more alert, it also causes a deficit in attention span. A kid who can sit for an hour or so without smoking can focus longer than a kid who JUULs that may be able to sit for half an hour , then starts thinking about how bad they want/need to hit their vape.
This topic relates to my proposal and provided me with lots of valuable information on how vaping affects the developing brain and body functions. Not only does it affect the user themself, but it also affects the people around them like friends and family. Vaping can be more easily avoided if teenagers were more aware of the long lasting affects it will have on their body, therefore I believe there should be more education on all different kinds of smoking in hopes to discourage kids into wanting to do it.

In the article, “Olympia made homeless camping legal in one parking lot. A year later, did it work?” The author speaks about a solution to Olympia’s homeless problem through the establishment of a legal tent city, that was opened up in a vacant parking lot. Through Olympia’s three step pipeline out of homelessness, people would move from the streets, to the mitigation site, to low income housing. While other homeless organizations focus on people with disabilities and mental illness, Olympia’s methods focus on getting people who are more capable and cooperative off the streets first, in theory, reducing the amount of homelessness. However, it is still difficult to determine whether or not this method has produced results. Out of 250 people, only 12 have moved into proper housing. While controversial amongst many aspects of Olympia’s community, Gundel of Just Housing Olympia stated that at the very least, it
is a step in the right direction by allowing people to have somewhere to stay.
Experimentation and figuring out what steps to take next is the only real way problems will ever get solved. Olympia’s homeless solution may not have been as effective as they projected, but they have also figured out what does and does not work for their community. While there were some upsides, such as a cleaner downtown area, it still didn’t deter from the fact that there are still hundreds of homeless living in on the streets. In a way, it connects to class because it displays a proposal, research, and an outcome to a situation that can have many different solutions,

In the article, “How Good Intentions Contributed to Bad Outcomes: The Opioid Crisis” addresses how the current opioid crisis we face today was started over 30 years ago to treat ” acute pain due to injury or surgery or severe pain related to cancer or a terminal illness”. Which led to severe dependence on opioids. When this happened, users would either try to get a prescription for opioids or would get them from illegal sources. To this day, number of groups are trying to set regulations and guidelines. Including major groups like The Department of Health, Joint Commission, FDA, and even the IOM. Along with other state and federal agencies.
This article is great because it introduces how the opioid crisis started. It isn’t really the only way it started but it is a major reason and concern on how the opioid crisis exploded. It effected all classes of people. It is really real, and in many ways sad on how it ends on an individual or how a family is effected. Many people benefit from the opioid crisis in many ways. The article I have chosen is called Everyday spaces of human trafficking. The Authors of this article are Yea, and Sallie.
This article was about what happens to people when they are caught in human trafficking. It also explains what kinda of work they are forced to do. If they even make it out alive.
I think this article was a really big eye opener for me, Allie explains her trip to Korea to interview people in the sex trade. there are many foreigners that get taken against their wills. there are many of these young women in sex clubs or bars and such. Allie explains how difficult it is to even talk to them at their work place due to their abusive boss. If they talk to much they get beat, or much worse. She tries to talk to them outside of the bar but they are on strict house arrest and have bedrooms above their workplace. While Allie was investigating she noticed some of these women knew what they were doing and where completely okay with the duties they had to preform for their salaries. But she also noticed there were some women living in constant fear and had no wills of their own. Allie explains they’re the ones that are usually trafficked. while sneaking a interview with one of the workers, she was able to speak with her for a very short amount of time until her boss caught them and made her stand outside of the bar with nothing on. Keep in mind it was snowing outside.

In the article what is your teaching style it goes over the top different styles of teaching that teachers can apply to their classrooms. Some of the styles include lecture, coach, activity, group and blended style which are all of the top five. The article also goes to show what you need to know about your style as well as the emergence of the style itself . It then discusses which style is best for this generation which provides better understanding for future teachers looking for guidance.
When we discussed in class what education is and how it should be taught it opened my mind to different ways in which people learn. With my experience K-12 was taught in a lecture style of teaching which means the teacher talks and the students would listen as well as take notes. Although I did learn the other teaching styles in the article seemed to make me want to take a look at how teaching in my opinion should be taught . The one that drew my attention was the activity style way of teaching. It incorporates the students and targets them on using critical thinking and asking questions. This one stuck out to me because I feel as though I’m actually learning rather than being talk but I also get to interact with my teacher and fellow classmates making learning enjoyable.

The article I chose to write about for this week’s Journal response is an article called how “America Is Breaking Public Education”. This article talks about how there are very significant problems in the American public school system. The major issue that this article mentions is that the way the public school system is currently structure only allows for a singular type of student to actually succeed. The article goes on to say that if the United States or any country wants to improve the education system they need to focus on what should be the goal of Education. They state that they need to encourage creativity and excellence with both educators and the students they are educating. The only way that this can be achieved is through a series of different experiences and methods. We should also fix how finances are distributed and how teachers are trained.
The way this correlates to our class is we had discussed the many issues that are currently plague our education system and how we would fix them. How students are clearly separated and given different opportunities depending on which specific category they fit in. This way of separating students is extremely unfair and not beneficial to a student’s education because a student may learn differently or slower that doesn’t mean they are not capable of being successful if given the same opportunity as everyone else. As far as funding it should not be awarded based on test scores or teacher quality. Wages should be more encouraging for qualified teachers and they should be provided with a realistic amount of resources needed to run their classes the way they see more beneficial to the students learning. This way we do not end up with bitter teachers who do not care about their students education.

“Job One for Humanity” is a non-profit organization whose main goal is to provide accurate information on global warming since 2008, and encourage humanity to make a change before it is “too late”. Job One for Humanity provides an informative website that’s main focus is to discuss alarming facts about global warming, and urge a few different ways we (as a collective population of the earth) can do to help reduce the future consequences of this crisis. This website provides crucial information everyone should be aware of, such as what exactly is causing global warming, how quickly the issue is escalating, every country’s contribution, and the consequences we are to expect if nothing is be done about this crisis on a global and personal scale. Despite all of the negative and alarming information, Job One for Humanity later provides what can still be done before humanity “collapses”, in other words, before we let the world end.
The call-to-action this website portrays is understandable as this is an issue that should be taken seriously and addressed now, however, I found myself questioning the information’s accuracy as the entire website uses solely fear tactics to move the reader. The consequences of global warming claimed by this organization sounded a bit extreme (end of the world), giving me a lesser sense of credibility from the author or director. Researching on climate change is relevant to my proposal, it is essential I confirm I am referencing credible sources- reading this website has shown me how easily information can be manipulated and/or exaggerated. To that, I have a more clear idea of how to ensure there is a balance of ethics, and persuasion throughout my proposal.
